A little background info..

So, where to start with this.. I'd suppose I am an average single mother who has just completed school, with a diploma in medical transcription(hold for applause), looking for work and balancing my life with my insane growing son. My child is 2 years old just turned actually about two weeks ago. I am a single mother by choice, when I discovered I was pregnant I was just getting to really know his father and realizing he was not the man I had thought he was. He had a child from a previous relationship and played the daddy card for all he could, although he wasn't much of a dad. I was basicLly taking care of that child from the day I entered our relationship. After about a week I realised he wasn't for me and we parted ways around new years 2010. I was 3 weeks pregnant and had no clue. Jan 11th 2010 I woke up so sick I couldnt move, I asked my nana(who is basically a mother to me to bring me) to the doctors. When I got there they did the standard teating and informed me I had a kidney infection and a UTI, which is common for me. I stood to leave and was asked to wait.. I started to get worried at that point. Everything possible was running through my mind, except pregnancy(i had been told 2 years prior that I could not concieve children.) A nurse and female doctor came in and started saying I have many options and everything would be okay.. I was in shock I kepg, saying whats wrong with me, whats wrong? Finally the nurse sat next to me and told me that the blood and urine test had confirmed I was pregnant. I instantly started sobbing and saying "what am I going to do?", the doctor took one look at me and told me ghwy would refer me to someone to "take care of it" she handed me a pamphlet for an abortion clinic I wont name and left me to get my information to take home. I remeber stumbling through the halls grabbing my nana and bringing her back to the room. I couldnt seem to find the words to explain so I handed her the pamphlet. She took one look and asked "is this what you want?" I remember shaking my head over and over.. She tore the papers up and we left. I was close to 9 weeks pregnant. As I left the office I remember thinking "what do I want for this baby?" I was raised by a single mom who struggled everyday. I swore to myself I would be better, do better, make this baby proud to have me as its mother. After a lot of hard phone calls, throwing up and more tears I had found an amazing OB, made the choice to have my child and be a single mother with lots of family support. That night I dreamt of holding a little baby girl in my arms after a routine c section. From the beginning I had myself aure of two things, 1. I would have a c section 2. I was having a daughter, little Raelyn Hope Alexandra.. I was only correct on one account. After about a week I contacted my ex, he instantly told me I was ruining his life intentionally, I had intentionally gotten pregnant to hurt him and to have an abortion. That was the day I chose to sever contact with him for my sake as well as the babythe tiny baby I had growing in me that I had to protect. I heard a few rumors that it wasn't his and I wasn't even pregnant just trying to trap him(HA! I left him) The first ultrasound I had I knew I made the right choice my little elephant(the sac looked like it to me) was going to be my life and honestly save me fron who I was becoming. I showed that picture off so proudly, I remember having that feeling of I created that! My 22nd birthday I had my 20 week ultrasound(I'd finally get concirmation of my baby girl!) I invited my nana, mom and step mom. I was so sure I brought a little sign that said its a girl to take a picture with and post online. Well the whole first 20 minutes of the ultrasound my baby was very shy, I had to roll from side to side to convince the baby to open its legs. I had been with a few friends to the sex ultrasound so I knew I was looking for the 3 lines. Well to this day 2+ years later im looking for those lines, my baby was CLEARLY a boy. I was so stunned my mouth actually dropped open and I had to try very hard not to cry. All I could think was "im a single mom, how will I teach a boy to pee? And have the TALK with a boy?" I didnt even post that it was a boy that day, I hadn't even thought of a boys name it wasn't an option in my mind.i didnt even have a name book. After a few days I snapped out of my funk and really thought about how it would be to have a boy, my grandfather would have his boy to spoil I xould have a mamas boy, plus it would be a way to carry on our last name whixh would of stopped with me the way it was. Finally, two weeks later I went and got a baby book.. I couldnt find a name, I loved two names, Nixon and Talon, neither of which sounded good with my last name. I kept going over and over the book. Finally at 7 months pregnant I stopped with the non stop vomiting and started putting on weight, I looked pregnant! Its at that point my handsome son flipped from head down to frank breech, my c section thought was correct. The doctors kept saying he would turn but I knew in my heart he wasn't going to. My due date was 9-4-10, my c section was secheduled 1 week early for 8-30. I knew I wouldnt last that long, I could tell.. Call it mothers intuition, at about 345am August 23rd I woke up with contractions, they werent horrible and I had slept at a friends house who I didnt want to worry, I knew I had an appointment at 930 that day so I tried to rest. I got to the doctors and toldthe nurse I was pretty sure I was in labor, she kind of laughed and told me I would know if I was, I wouldnt be able to walk.. I brushed it off and told the dr when I saw him, hd agreed to do a stress test and moniter my contractions which at that point were coming every 3 minutes or so. Im happy I didnt have to have a natural birth now because after 8 hours of laboring I wasn't dialating or thinning at all. My surgery kept getting pushed back and back, I remebmer sitting in my hospital bed starving waiting for aurgery, finally at 430pm a nurse came and walked me to the OR. My mom was coming in with me, I remember being so calm. At 512pm my 6lb 4oz 21.5in son was brought into this world and peed on the doctors :) I was so happy, a nurse brought him to me and asked his name, my mom was starting to say I didnt have one yet and I almost yelled over her "his name is Braden Nathaniel." I dont know where it came from but thats his name and it fits him!
